The Mental Health First Aid for Tribal Communities and Indigenous Peoples Community-specific Course builds upon the effectiveness of the standard Mental Health First Aid curriculum by focusing on the unique experiences and needs of Tribal Communities and Indigenous Peoples. This course is intended to blend with Version 2.0 of the youth/“core” Mental Health First Aid course.
The Tribal Communities and Indigenous Peoples Curriculum is recommended for instructors who teach at least two courses per year to these audiences, and who have been oriented to the curriculum materials. Upon completion of this training, you will have access to digital resources that present a reframing of the Version 2.0 Youth Mental Health First Aid course for instructors to better work with those specific audiences.
Instructors are required to teach a minimum of two courses in the foundation Youth Mental Health First Aid curriculum prior to obtaining any community-specific course designations. Instructors must also have knowledge and experience with the target audience.
