A Perfect Lightweight Duvet

Made with recycled European down and an ultra-soft long-staple cotton shell, our essential duvet feels airier and softer than any comforter on the market — making it a perfect lightweight duvet.

That lightness is balanced beautifully with an admirable fill power of 650, giving the blanket enough substance to handle fall chill. A cluster-fill process and a bafflebox architecture keep the down and feathers evenly distributed and prevent random "cold spots." 

Recycling makes the blanket lighter and the down ethical. A natural anti-microbial treatment plus the natural qualities of premium down make the duvet entirely sanitized, anti-microbial and hypoallergenic.

Recycled European Down

We’re using exclusively 100% European down, collected primarily in Italy and France. Europe famously produces some of the best down in the world. Recycling it makes the blanket lighter and the down ethical (no live plucking).

Long Staple Cotton Cambric Shell

You'll notice we really like long-staple cotton. The longer threads make for a dramatically softer blanket that is substantial enough so it doesn't bunch up and never gets too hot. 

Hypoallergenic & Antimicrobial

Not all down products are treated with anti-microbial and not all our hypoallergenic – ours is. That means dogs, kids, and anything else you’d like is welcome on the bed without worries. 

Sustainable

Down is an inherently sustainable material. It is naturally occurring and compostable, and all by-products from Down processing are also biodegradable. All of this together means that own has the lowest carbon footprint of all insulating materials.

Lightweight, Cool and Breezy

Lightness is not easy. We achieve it by using recycled down, a lower fill power than our norm, a cotton cambric shell and and a masterful build. This keeps the duvet almost unbelievably light and cloud-like and prevents it from ever overheating or from creating random cold spots.  

Bafflebox Stitch

That's the grid design you see all over the duvet — it keeps the down evenly distributed and your duvet evenly fluffy. We paid a lot of attention to every piece of this architecture, down to the size of the squares. And we landed on this grid because we felt like it was the perfect balance for all kinds of sleepers (blanket-huggers and sparse-coverers alike).

Introducing Snow

We didn’t just select a color from a list of available options — we made something entirely new. We worked with our US-based supplier to test several different shades of white. Finally, we landed on the perfect color for The Essential down— Snow. It’s a quintessential and iconic ultra-white.
